Liverpool Pre-season Review and preview to Season

 Pre Season Review.

So the traditional curtain raiser of the Community Shield is now over and Liverpool suffered a narrow defeat losing out on penalties to a Arteta inspired Arsenal. Now time to look at where Liverpool are looking strong and where we need some more support also my opinion on what could be a starting 11.

Looking at the 2 friendlies against Stuttgart and RB Salzburg and the game today against Arsenal we will go through each area of play from defense to midfield to attack.

With our defense we can already see that we need cover a RB for when Trent is injured or exhausted as Neco doesn't have the relative experience there. Now one thing that could be used is getting a new CB and use Joe Gomez as cover for Trent. The reason for this is looking at the games we can see the Joe is looking uncomfortable at CB however felt more comfortable when he moved over to RB today.

From these three games we can see how integral Henderson is to our midfield as without him we haven't got any leadership in the midfield we can say without a doubt that we need support. Personally I think Thiago will be a great coup if we can get the board onside with him and fork out for him his creativity and ability to hold the ball up is something that has been lacking in recent games. With Wijanldum and Liverpool currently not making movements on the contract situation and Koeman in his ear about a move to Barcelona not helping the situation his game has been impacted and he isn't being as creative as normal.

Our attacking force currently isn't clinical enough. Firmino, although integral to our team isn't a constant goal scorer and being so far forward is stopping him being as creative as he can be. It would be better if he was deployed deeper in more of a 4231 with Salah as the central player and Mane and Minamino as the wide players. Allowing their creativity to shine. Unfortunately as Mane has already come out and expressed a desire to play for Barcelona it seems like his head isn't at Liverpool or Anfield at the moment. 

My opinion on the formation for current season would be to go for 

Alisson 

TAA  Virgil Van Dijk Gomez(Matip) Robbo

Henderson Keita(Thiago)

Minamino  Firmino  Mane

Salah

Now on transfers I think we should be making moves for Thiago. He has expressed a desire to play in the Prem and for Liverpool and we should sign him before he becomes a free agent and have to fight multiple clubs. Another player I think we need to make a move for is Diego Carlos. On the back of a very strong season for him and winning the Europa League he would add depth and strength to our defense. Attacking wise I would rather give Minamino, Brewster and Elliot their chance to shine as they have all shown moments of brilliance and can really aid the team in goal scoring. As well as that we have Origi who can be deployed at striker or LW if we need to rotate.
